Small Vessel

SMALL VESSEL

This small vessel was made using daylily and hay paper formed over a balloon. After it was dry, the balloon was popped. It was painted using acrylic paints and a gold glaze.

Blue Flower Bowl Blue Flower Bowl

BLUE FLOWER BOWL

This bowl was made by pressing cotton pulp into a flower pot. I had some trouble removing it after it was dry due to the shape of the pot and I believe, to the pot being porous. After "digging" it out with a knife, I decided that I liked the disfigured sides. Acrylic paints were used and the bowl was sealed with a sealer.

Christmas Bowl

HOLIDAY BOWL

This bowl was formed inside a glass bowl using sheets of paper still wet. I prefer this method because it is easier to gauge the thickness. The small green garland was sown on using jute.

Denim Teacup

DENIM TEACUP

Denim colored fabric dye was added to cotton pulp. The pulp was pressed inside another bowl to form the cup. The saucer was formed by pouring pulp onto a screen into a "puddle". I shaped the handle by hand and glued in place.

Daylily and Cornhusk Bowl

DAYLILY AND CORNHUSK BOWL

Cotton was added to the cornhusk pulp and pressed into a bowl. Daylily pulp was pressed on top of the cornhusk mixture. Before the bowl was completely dry, I removed it from the glass bowl and turned it upside down. The pressure formed the lip. Bells were attached with white glue.

DAYLILY BOWL AND URN

DAYLILY BOWL AND URN

This bowl is made from Daylily pulp, pressed into a glass bowl. Leaves from Tansy were added to the inside for embellishment. The lip is sewn with jute and 5 bells hang from that.

The urn is an old lamp base covered with Daylily and Iris paper. I drizzled some black paint on it, highlighted with gold Rub & Buff, and sealed.

Bowl on stand - SOLD

BOWL ON STAND

This bowl was formed inside a glass bowl with a mixture of various plant fibers. It sits atop a candle stand repainted black with silver. Handmade paper beads hang from the stand.

Twister Vessel

TWISTER VESSEL

One of my more "interesting" pieces. This was fun from the very beginning. An armature was made from window screen and completely covered with duct tape. As I formed sheets of paper, I placed them on the armature. Let the first layer dry. Added a second layer and let it dry. For strength, I added a layer of guaze and then two more layers of paper. When the whole thing was dry, it popped right off. The inside was painted with acrylics and sealed. I didnt like the look of the edge, so it was covered with bias tape. Beaded fringe glued to the outside rim and then it was painted brown along with the bias tape. The stand is a wonderful find from my mom. 19"H x 11"W (21"H including the stand)

Cornucopia

YE OLE CORNUCOPIA

Doesn't everyone have to make one sometime? Pulp formed. Outer layer is cotton with pine needle inclusion. Added a gold glaze to the sealer. Drape made of same handmade paper and tacked with brown waxed linen. I had painted the inside brown, didn't like it and then covered with a checked red and beige tissue paper. There is a hook on the back for hanging. 13"L x 6.5"W

And Your Point Is?

AND YOUR POINT IS?

Pulp formed from two pieces. The top was formed first and after it was dry, the bottom was formed while attaching it to the top. Plants used in final paper covering: Shasta Daisy, Daylily, Hay, Miscanthus and Yucca. 10"H x 8"W

The Allure Of Lavender

THE ALLURE OF LAVENDER

Pulp formed in a large terra cotta flower pot. The rough texture was formed because the pulp wasn't completely dry and it stuck to the pot. Painted with acrylics and gold glaze. 12"W x 6"H. (18"H including the stand)

Sunset Willow Mood Lamp

SUNSET WILLOW MOOD LAMP

This lamp was formed with Celluclay, from the same armature as the Twister vessel. The outer layer of paper is Miscanthus with some cotton added. It sits atop a piece of sandstone and is topped off with willow branches straight from my backyard. The lamp glows orange, due to the gold, and reminds me of a sunset. 18"H x 14"W (34"H x 26"W including the willow.)

Green Sunflower Bowl Inside Green Sunflower Bowl

GREEN SUNFLOWER BOWL

Wet sheet formed on the outside of a glass bowl, mostly cotton with a plant pulp mixed in. (Sorry, can't remember which one.) Gold glaze on the interior and petals from purchased paper. Embellished with buttons, feathers, beads and fiber.
