My First Journal

My First Journal

5 1/2 X 8 1/2. A very simple stab binding. The front and back are covered with handmade paper made from Hay, dyed with scarlet fabric dye. Shasta Daisy paper with Hydrangea petal inclusions are used on the inside of the front and back covers. The textblock is black paper from a really cheap notebook. It turned out ok for my first attempt.

Autumn Autumn Spine

Autumn Book

5 X 6 1/4. This has an accordion binding. You start by folding a piece of paper back and forth many times. The pages are then glued to the folds. The two pages that are glued to the same fold are then glued together. This is the ultimate in "no sew" for those of you who don't like needles that have string attached. This book only has 12 pages, most of which are printed papers from the scrapbook store. 5 pages are pockets for storing little mementos. The first pocket, which is also the first page, says;
"Autumn is a season followed immediately by looking forward to Spring." - Doug Larson

Birthday Book Edge

Birthday Book

4 1/4 X 5 1/2. This book has seven signatures with 8 pages of regular paper and a sheet of handmade paper as a cover. The handmade paper kind of serves as a section divider. The cover of each section has a different embellishment on the edge. The straps attached to the cover are some kind of binding used in sewing. (Have no clue, I hate to sew.) I plan on attaching a closure, but will I ever get around to it? Doubtful.
