Paint Strainers for Hand Papermaking
Paint strainers have many uses in hand papermaking and can save you a ton of plumbing costs. Place a paint strainer over a large bowl or 5 gallon bucket and use it as your sink for small projects. Clean blenders and other tools over top of the bowl to catch any pulp so it doesn't go down your drain.
If you are using a small tub for dipping your papermaking mold, dump the water through the stainer to catch leftover pulp. This pulp can then be hung in the strainer to dry for use later.
Dry large amounts of pulp for easy storage. Put your pulp in the strainer, squeeze out excess water and hang to dry. Occaisonly, hit the bottom of the bag to mix up the pulp and bring the wetter pulp in the middle to the outside.
Paint strainers are very reasonably priced and last quite a long time. They can be purchased at most hardware or home improvement stores.
